Dragon

I used to dread the coming of darkness,
For I knew what it would bring:
Taunts from a broken soul
And silent tears of pain
I wished vainly for a hero,
Knowing one would never come,
When suddenly there he stood
A shadow in the moonlight,
A voice from the mists
Who comforted my midnight fears

Though he seems evil to some
He is a haven to me
A tower of strength and dignity,
The mysterious dragon watching over me
And though I love my extraordinary knight
He must never know
So I shall keep my heart hidden until the end of time
Secretly basking in this shelter of love,
The love of a father I never had
